Tutor

About the Role

The Tutor is responsible for providing A Kid’s Place clients with individualized assistance to help them learn new concepts and complete assignments.

Responsibilities

• Review classroom and/or curriculum topics and assignments.
• Assist clients with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, and other academic tasks.
• Work with clients to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom.
• Teach skills to improve academic performance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass DCF background screening.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and encourage clients to improve their academic performance.
• Creativity and flexibility to personalize learning approaches for individual clients.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with all staff and external parties.
• Must be reliable, punctual, flexible, and a team player.
• Ability to work collaboratively, respectfully, and accept constructive criticism from management.

Essential Functions and Physical Requirements

• The ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers.
• The ability to hear and respond quickly to sounds.
• The ability to communicate effectively with others.
• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision.
• The ability to arrive at work on time and ready to perform all job duties, including working all assigned shifts and hours.
