About the Role

Perform turndown services in designated guest rooms in the evening. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Refresh the bathroom by removing used towels and replacing them with clean ones from the linen closet, as well as wiping dry any wet surfaces.
  • Fold any clothing left in the room and place it in an appropriate spot.
  • Remove Room Service trays and dishes and cart them to service landings.
  • Replace used cups, saucers, spoons, and glasses from the Minibar with clean china, glasses, and cutlery from the housekeeping closets.
  • Remove garbage from bins in the bedroom and bathroom.
  • Close drapes (based on applicable standard), reduce lighting, turn the TV on, and prepare the bed.
  • Submit all maintenance issues in guestrooms, public areas, and back of house to the Engineering department through designated work systems and bring them to the attention of housekeeping management.
  • Add special touches to the guestrooms to enhance the guest experience (e.g., eye glass cloths, cord wraps, chocolates, weather cards).
  • Restock used amenities such as shampoo, lotions, cotton balls, stationery, pens, and coffee, tea, and sugar sachets.
  • Prepare unoccupied rooms for turndown for arriving guests.
  • Perform full Room Attendant duties in occupied rooms and late check-out rooms when needed.
  • Vacuum, sweep, or mop in guest rooms or public areas as needed.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or hotel support experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic English language skills for communication (additional languages a plus).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently manipulate carts that weigh 200 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and perform all activities in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.
  • Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets, and work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Must be able to produce, read, and understand reports, including security, incident, and police reports, and analyze and process written information from a variety of sources.
  • Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes, and regulatory requirements.
