Turfgrass Management Intern

About the role

Join the fast‑paced team at Destination Geneva National, home to 54 holes of legendary golf designed by Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino, plus a one‑acre Himalayas‑style putting course. As a Turfgrass Management Intern you will help oversee meticulously manicured bent‑grass tees, fairways, greens, and an expansive practice area that includes two lakeside ranges and three practice greens. The internship lasts five to six months, with ideal candidates able to work through September or October. Complimentary on‑property housing and same‑day pay are available.

Responsibilities

• Daily course maintenance
• Turfgrass cultural programs
• Daily course set‑up
• Routine calibration of spreaders and sprayers
• Irrigation operation and repairs
• Pesticide and fertilizer applications
• Assisting in and managing various projects
• All aspects of golf‑course management
• Natural/native area management

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a certificate or 2‑ or 4‑year Turfgrass, Agronomy, Agriscience, or Horticulture degree program, or two‑plus years of golf‑course grounds experience.
• Success factors:

  • Prior golf‑course experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the game of golf is a benefit
