TURF SPECIALIST I

Essential Job Duties

• Mow and trim turf areas using push and small riding mowers.
• Use of string and blade trimmer, backpack blowers, edger, aerifier, hedge clippers, punning shears, shovels, rakes and other hand tools necessary for task completion.
• Performs other basic grounds maintenance duties including but not limited to: general cleanup, trash removal, weeding, sawing, hauling and handling brush.
• Grading soils to ensure proper drainage and turf growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• The ideal candidate will have had prior turf maintenance experience in a public setting.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and occasionally works independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing world class guest service (internal and external).
• Ability to exercise good judgment.
• Ability to safely operate small equipment such as edgers, push and ride on mowers, and associated motorized equipment.
• Ability to become WPS certified within 10 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time;
• Must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, reach below and overhead.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding as needed.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
• Ability to work safely with and around pesticides and other chemicals.
