Turbine Engine Maintenance Technician

About the role

Columbia Helicopters is a 65-year-old company that provides heavy-lift helicopter services, aircraft maintenance, and engine overhaul.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals to determine the feasibility and method to perform tasks.
  • Clean and inspect engines and component parts for damage and wear using visual examination and specialized tools.
  • Replace or repair damaged or worn engine parts and component parts using various tools and equipment.
  • Assemble components with the appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Utilize special tools and equipment to perform tests and checks to confirm engine or component serviceability.
  • Document all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records to meet established standards.
  • Maintain work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practicing proper tool and FOD control.
  • Work safely and utilize the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
  • Monitor and support continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools to eliminate waste, improve quality, and reduce cost.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Further education or advanced instruction relative to the technical field is desirable.
  • Requires 3+ years of mechanical experience and a strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul is preferred.
  • Documented military or commercial turbine engine maintenance and/or component maintenance training is preferred.
  • Training and experience utilizing Lean methods in a production environment is required.
  • Ability to locate, read, and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as assigned dependent on production needs.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment or work outdoors locally or in remote locations as needed for customer support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
