About the role
As the Team Leader RCA Tufting, you will oversee the overall operations of the Tufting process at our RCA facility. You will coordinate activities to meet production and quality objectives, manage raw material delivery, ensure accurate reporting and documentation, and lead associates in the tufting process.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate personnel activities for the RCA Tufting operation and assign duties
- Plan and schedule the flow of products for each Tufter, partnering with RCA and Kyle Planning/Scheduling departments
- Schedule logistics for all raw materials, including yarn delivery to and from RCA
- Coordinate with other department Supervisors/Leaders to meet order promise dates
- Follow management direction to achieve departmental goals and objectives
- Continuously monitor carpet quality and ensure orders meet specification requirements
- Ensure raw materials are supplied to machines as needed
- Deposit carpet scrap and recycled materials in designated areas
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Direct RCA associates and perform yarn thread-ups and creel arrangements
- Operate all Tufting machine types, including setup and weight checks
- Perform Supervisors’ duties and maintain housekeeping standards
- Conduct 6S audits and assignments, and perform Critical Risk surveys
- Comply with safety rules and environmental regulations
- Follow ISO procedures and Interface’s sustainability commitments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (college or vocational school preferred)
- Tufting experience required
- Previous leadership experience required
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask
- Normal color vision or average to above-average shade discernment
- Interface White Belt and 6S Training preferred
- Good interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and AS/400
Physical demands
- Considerable walking up and down stairs
- Considerable standing
- Occasional pushing and pulling of a cart with up to 360 lbs. load
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional 12-hour shifts
- Occasional changing of primary backing rolls
Work environment
Non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
