About the Role

Join a well-established Kansas City law firm with a strong reputation in estate planning and trust administration, supporting attorneys who handle complex, high-value matters. This is a long-term opportunity for a detail-focused paralegal to take ownership of substantive work and build deep expertise in trusts, estates, and probate. You'll work closely with attorneys and clients, playing a critical role in ensuring matters move efficiently and accurately through the legal process. Hybrid work schedule available.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys handling estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters from inception through completion. Your work will directly impact the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of client service delivered by the firm's trusts and estates practice.

Responsibilities

  • Draft wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related estate planning documents for attorney review
  • Prepare and organize trust administration documentation, including correspondence, notices, and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and file probate pleadings, inventories, accountings, and status reports with the court in compliance with local rules and deadlines
  • Manage court filing and e-filing procedures, ensuring all documents are correctly formatted, submitted, and tracked
  • Maintain and update case files, calendars, and task lists for estate planning, trust, and probate matters
  • Coordinate information and documentation with clients, financial institutions, and other third parties as needed for estate and trust administration
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, meetings, and client conferences by compiling exhibits, summaries, and supporting materials

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a paralegal in trusts and estates, probate, or a closely related practice area
  • Hands-on experience drafting estate planning documents for attorney review
  • Strong familiarity with probate processes and procedures, including preparation of court filings
  • Proficiency with court filing and e-filing systems and related formatting requirements
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in document preparation and file management
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple matters and deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with attorneys, clients, and court personnel

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited program or equivalent paralegal training
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred
  • Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain is a plus
  • Prior experience in a law firm trusts and estates department strongly preferred
