Job Overview
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join a well-integrated team. The post is suitable for trainees who intend to further develop their paediatric, clinical, neonatal transport and R&D skills, and/or pursue a career as a specialist in Neonatal Medicine. The posts are available from ASAP for 12 months.
Main duties of the job
- Provide medical cover to quaternary neonatal intensive care and neonatal surgical intensive care unit
- Undertake neonatal transports of sick infants between neonatal and paediatric wards and intensive care units
- Provide middle grade clinical cover for the Northern Neonatal transport service
- Deliver acute neonatal uplift within the northern neonatal network
- Receive regular (3 monthly) clinical and personal appraisals
- Attend daily neonatal teaching in the unit
- Complete standard study leaves and annual leaves

Education and Qualifications
- Primary Medical Qualification. Must hold full GMC registration at time of application
- MRCPCH or equivalent. NLS or equivalent
- Evidence of smooth progression through training programmes
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
- To have minimum 6 months experience working at middle grade level in a tertiary level NICU (or equivalent)
- Evidence of competence in neonatal procedures
Experience and Management/Administration
- An understanding of Clinical Governance
- Experience in Neonatal transfers
- Experience in Management and Administration
Teaching
- Experience of supervising junior staff
- Ability to teach clinical skills
- Experience in teaching undergraduate medical students & junior doctors/nurses
- Contribution to Departmental training sessions
Clinical Governance, Audit and Research
- Experience of audit projects
- Organised or contributed to an audit project that has resulted in change, and completed the audit cycle
