About the role

Purpose
Operates web, linear, and component saws to supply the boards needed for the truss building process.
Essential functions
- Safely operate web, linear, and component saws in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Set up, adjust, operate, and perform routine cleaning of assigned saw equipment.
- Perform routine saw calibrations daily and as otherwise required to maintain cutting accuracy and equipment performance.
- Load lumber into the saw manually or with a forklift and ensure a continuous, efficient flow of materials.
- Verify cut lists, production tickets, and dimensions before beginning each production run.
- Cut lumber to specified dimensions while maximizing material yield and minimizing waste.
- Measure cut parts throughout production to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Inspect lumber for proper grade and quality before processing and inspect finished components to ensure they meet company quality standards.
- Continuously monitor the quality and accuracy of finished products and make necessary adjustments to maintain specifications.
- Ensure components are fabricated in accordance with company specifications and production requirements.
- Monitor material inventory and communicate shortages or material issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist in performing routine preventive maintenance, including blade inspections and replacements when required.
- Follow proper equipment shutdown procedures and strictly comply with all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Work collaboratively with production team members to meet daily production schedules and support efficient workflow.
- Comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and abilities
- Ability to be alert, focused, and detail-oriented at all times.
- Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, as well as work alone.
- Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools, including reading a tape measure.
- Demonstrate ability to stack material properly.
- Comply with OSHA requirements and standards to wear all applicable PPE properly.
Physical demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 80 pounds and carry objects 50 feet.
- Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
- Must be able to hear running machinery.
- Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
- Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination.
- Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
- Must regularly be able to sit, squat, bend, twist, and stand.
- Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous saw experience desired.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Work conditions
- Works outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
- Work with mechanical equipment daily.
- Work in areas with high noise levels.
