Trucking Coordinator

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 2-20 employees, including truck drivers. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software.
• Current and valid Class A CDL driver’s license and medical card.
• Working knowledge of chick delivery equipment.
• Willingness to travel overnight.
• Willingness to drive solo or with a co-driver.

• Frequently exposed to vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Responsibilities

• Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
• Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Maintains DOT driver qualification files.
• Loads and unloads truck.
• Cleans and sanitizes trucks per bio-security requirements.
• Oversees maintenance and repairs of trucking fleet.
• Reports and investigates accidents involving company trucks.
• Confers with department heads concerning problems such as accident rates and abuse of equipment, and recommends measures to improve safety records and conserve equipment.
• Follows company policy and meets or exceeds established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, strain security, harassment and discrimination, drug and alcohol, and email/internet policy.
• Attendance is expected and required during normal working hours or during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor or manager.
