Truck Operations Specialist
About the role
The Aurora Driver will help change the commercial trucking industry and play a key role in delivering data to engineers in an effort to continually improve our product.
Responsibilities
- Safely pilot and copilot autonomous semi trucks for on road and closed course testing in service of our development and commercial pilot operations
- Remain alert and attentive while monitoring the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
- Log real time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing, to be delivered to engineers
- Provide out-of-vehicle support for structured track testing, including operating passenger vehicles and other equipment to execute tests across the track network
- Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora to help drive progress on Aurora’s mission
- Demonstrate positive impact at Aurora by working on cross-functional projects as time permits
- Maintain up to date knowledge of how our self-driving technology works. Understand daily software and operational changes
- Work toward quantitative and qualitative goals that impact all of Vehicle Operations and Aurora
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Requirements
- Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License (in addition to the CDL)
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Driving record must pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
- Must pass DOT physical and meet all DOT qualification standards
- Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
- Is at least 25 years of age
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to use laptops and tablets to launch test missions, monitor real-time data feeds, and enter detailed digital logs
- Able to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Able to travel up to 50% or as needed
- Able to work rotating shifts as needed, and regular overtime and weekends
Qualifications
- 80% of shift time spent in vehicle (vehicle as office)
Skills
- Truck technician experience
- Inquisitive attitude, interested in problem solving and solving puzzles
- Experience in operations, technology, customer service, or automotive field
- Experience working in a collaborative environment - team player
- Proficient in Google Workspace Products (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
- Command line interface experience
- Interest and aptitude for technology tools - apps, gaming, adobe creative suite, etc.

Pay
The base hourly wage range for this position is $31.00 - $38.50 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Schedule
We are currently hiring for multiple shifts pending location, including both day and night shifts. Please note that shift days may include weekends.
