Truck Operations Specialist
About the role
We are seeking a Class A Driver based in Midland, TX to join our team. This role involves piloting autonomous semi trucks for testing purposes, collaborating with engineers, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of our self-driving technology.
Responsibilities
- Safely pilot autonomous semi trucks for on road and closed course testing
- Monitor the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
- Log real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance
- Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of how our self-driving technology works
- Ensure all mandatory certifications and accreditations are met
- Work on cross-functional projects as time permits
- Maintain active and current status within required partner applications
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License
- Passing Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proactive ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions
- Ability to travel as needed (up to 50%)
- Available to work night shifts (second and/or third shift)
- Ability to work rotating shifts as needed
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
- At least 21 years of age
- Meet all DOT qualifications
Qualifications
- 80% of shift time spent in vehicle (vehicle as office)
- Pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
Skills
- Experience in operations, technology, customer service, or automotive field
- Inquisitive attitude, interested in problem-solving and solving puzzles
- Team player
- Proficient in G-Suite
- Command line interface experience
- Interest and aptitude for technology tools - apps, gaming, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

Pay
The base hourly wage range for this position is $31.00 - $38.50 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
