About the role
The Aurora Driver will help change the commercial trucking industry by piloting autonomous semi trucks for testing. This role involves collecting real-time feedback and collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Safely pilot autonomous semi trucks for on-road and closed-course testing
- Monitor the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
- Log real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance
- Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology
- Maintain active and current status within required partner applications
- Work towards quantitative and qualitative goals impacting Vehicle Operations and Aurora
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License
- Driving record must pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Available to work night shifts (second and/or third shift)
- Available to work rotating shifts as needed
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
- 80% of shift time spent in vehicle (vehicle as office)
- Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- Must pass DOT physical
- Meet all DOT qualifications
Qualifications
- Desired Qualifications: Truck driver trainer/instructor experience, truck technician experience, inquisitive attitude, interested in problem-solving and solving puzzles, experience in operations, technology, customer service, or automotive field, experience working in a collaborative environment, team player, proficient in G-Suite, command line interface experience, interest and aptitude for technology tools - apps, gaming, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
Benefits
This role offers a competitive base hourly wage range of $31.00 - $38.50 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The successful candidate will also be eligible for benefits.
