The Truck Mechanic II position at Mohawk Industries, located in Calhoun, GA, operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 6 pm to 2 am, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

- Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy duty vehicles such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, etc. - Handles diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical troubleshooting, steering, and cooling systems. - Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts, using hand tools. - Overhauls gas or diesel engines, utilizing mechanic's hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists. - Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments, using hand tools. - Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications. - May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings. - Attends any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision. - Follows all established standard operating procedures. - Performs general housekeeping duties as necessary. - Performs other tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

- Associate’s degree required. - 3-5 years of automotive shop experience. - Certifications required include: - Light/Electrical Systems - Brake Systems - A/C - Clutch - Injectors - Tires - HVAC - Drive Lines - Cooling Systems - Aftertreatment Systems - Diagnostic Troubleshooting - APU Unit Service and Repair - Rear End

Qualifications

- Strong communication skills and ability to convey information clearly and concisely. - Ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and to keep simple records and make routine reports. - Excellent attendance record. - Good interpersonal skills. - Ability to perform specific duties with instructions but without direct supervision. - Valid driver’s license.
