General Statement of Duties

Prepare and operate a Lift Truck for the transportation of goods to and from one area to another.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a Powered Industrial Lift Truck (either Pole, Forks and or Squeeze) to move goods like rolls of carpet, rolls of backing, bundles of carpet cores, bundles of yarn, pallets of an assortment of products from either tractor trailers, bin locations, machines to other tractor trailers, bin locations and or machines.
  • Must be able to learn and use the Radio Frequency (RF) computer mounted of the lift trucks to scan product being moved from place to place.
  • Must be able to drive lift truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to learn and perform Dock Plate placement procedures safely either manual or automatic.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education, Experience, Training, and Certifications / Licenses:
    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Basic English grammar, reading, and math skills.
    • Must be able to obtain a Lift Truck License.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Interpersonal skills, manual dexterity, moderate mechanical skills, math skills, and judgement skills.
    • Pays attention to details.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
    • Must be able to use the RF unit.
    • Must be able to have good vision with or without the use of corrective lenses.
  • Carpet handling skills & knowledge preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to crawl, stoop, kneel, stand, walk, crouch, reach, handle, sit, climb and balance.
  • Able to lift, up to 25 pounds of weight.
  • Must be able to sit and drive lift truck for extended periods of time.
  • Must have good hands / eyes / feet coordination.
  • Must be able to work 8-hour or 12-hour shifts, either day or night, weekdays or weekends as scheduled.

Work Environment

  • Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, high humidity, and temperature variations.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to loud beeping noise, many moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.
