About the role

Mohawk Industries is a leading global flooring manufacturer that creates products to enhance residential and commercial spaces around the world. This position will be responsible for repairs and keeping electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks running properly, following manuals, using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake, and other automotive systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, etc.
• Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical trouble shooting, steering, and cooling systems.
• Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes, or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts, using hand tools.
• Overhauls gas or diesel engines, using mechanic's hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and will make adjustments, using hand tools.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
• May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
• Attends any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follows all established standard operating procedures.
• Performs general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Performs other tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree preferred or 3+ years of automotive shop experience.
• Certifications requirements / technical knowledge to include: Light/Electrical Systems, Brake Systems, A/C, Preventative Maintenance, Tires, General Repairs, Cooling Systems.

Competencies

• Ability to communicate in standard English and to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and to keep simple records and make routine reports.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends and to be reached by pager or phone, 7days/week, 24 hours/day.
• Ability to maintain an acceptable level of attendance in accordance with company and department guidelines.
• Ability to work well with people.
• Ability to perform specific duties with instructions but without direct supervision.
• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
