About the role

The Fleet Maintenance Tech I reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in our diesel and CNG fleets, ensuring our operation runs seamlessly. This includes reviewing Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and performing emergency roadside repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established Standard Repair Times (SRTs), ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
  • Perform senior-level repairs and assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct critical and complex troubleshooting, inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform roadside emergency diagnosis and repair of roadside equipment as directed by supervision.
  • Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles and equipment, including documentation of parts usage and repair times.
  • Maintain attendance and successfully accomplish all safety and compliance training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or GED.
  • Familiarity with DOT CHP repair processes and controls for Drivers Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues and required repairs.
  • Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Consistently behave in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Possess personal tools.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications:
    • T2: Engine
    • T3: Drive Train
    • T4: Brakes
    • T5: Suspension & Steering
    • T6: Electrical/Electronic Systems
    • T7: Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
    • T8: Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI)
  • CNG Certification: Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 years’ experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance & repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications.
  • Trade School Certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Air Brake Certification.
  • CNG Alternative Fuel experience/training.
  • CDL Class A/B.
  • Computer diagnostic skills: Cummins Insite/Allison transmissions.
  • Forklift operator training/certification.

Schedule

3:00 PM - 11:30 AM (Monday - Friday + Alternating Saturdays as needed).

Pay

Hourly Rate: $39.73
