About the role
The Fleet Maintenance Tech I reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in diesel and CNG fleets, ensuring the fleet operates seamlessly.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established Standard Repair Times (SRTs), ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
- Perform senior-level repairs and assigned preventative maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform roadside emergency diagnosis and repair of roadside equipment as directed by supervision.
- Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles and equipment, including documentation of parts usage and repair times.
- Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and address mechanical issues.
- Maintain attendance and successfully accomplish all safety and compliance training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or GED.
- Familiarity with DOT CHP repair processes and controls for Drivers Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues and required repairs.
- Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA rules and regulations.
- Consistently behave in a professional manner.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Possess personal tools.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications:
- T2: Engine
- T3: Drive Train
- T4: Brakes
- T5: Suspension & Steering
- T6: Electrical/Electronic Systems
- T7: Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- T8: Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI)
- CNG Certification: Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 years’ experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance & repair or equitable trade school and/or technical certifications.
- Trade School Certification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Air Brake Certification.
- CNG Alternative Fuel experience/training.
- CDL Class A/B.
- Computer diagnostic skills: Cummins Insite/Allison transmissions.
- Forklift operator training/certification.
Pay
$38.99/hour.
Schedule
3PM - 11:30PM (Monday - Friday + Alternating Saturdays as needed).
