Truck Field Service Technician 3 - HOLT Truck Centers

About the Role

Provides exceptional customer service while inspecting, repairing, and maintaining On-Highway trucks, trailers, and attachments. The role emphasizes alignment with the company's mission and core values, collaboration, and ongoing self-development.

Responsibilities

• Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools and processes.
• Troubleshoot and repair On-Highway trucks (Cat and OEM).
• Travel to job sites and retrieve parts as needed.
• Listen to customer complaints, provide repair cost quotes, explain repairs, and schedule appointments with clear communication.
• Order parts required for repairs and complete necessary documentation for billing.
• Respond to after-hours customer needs when required.
• Maintain a P Factor of 110% or greater and less than 0.5% rework for total sales.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose engine malfunctions and failures.
• Perform engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers.
• Disassemble, inspect, determine parts required, and reassemble to factory specifications within TRGs.
• Provide quality control/assurance inspections, including road testing.
• Use computers and software for diagnostics and reprogramming engines.
• Complete documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition, and returns.
• Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance, and service manuals/bulletins.
• Operate equipment and vehicles with all necessary licenses and certificates.
• Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Maintain company equipment, tools, and vehicles in clean, working order.
• Communicate job progress to supervisors and customers as needed.
• Work overtime as required by workload and customer needs.
• Project professionalism, including personal appearance, with internal and external customers.
• Act as a mentor and coach to lower-level Technicians.
• Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training.
• Work safely at all times and comply with all company policies and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; accreditation from a technical school or skilled trades program required.
• Five or more years of experience.
• CDL – Class A or B required.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Experience leading/mentoring preferred.
• Must meet HDSI requirements for preceding Technician levels and model HOLT’s VBL culture.
• Ongoing safety training required.
• Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job.
• Clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Significant time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
• Constant movement and use of hands, requiring good manual dexterity.
• Constant reaction to visual, auditory, and other signals while performing the job.
• Ability to move objects and use abdominal/lower back muscles to support weight over time without fatigue.
• Frequent lifting and moving of materials and equipment up to 70 lbs.
• Ascending/descending ladders and equipment using both hands and feet.

Work Environment

• Frequent outdoor work around moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather extremes (heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather).
• Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.
• Exposure to hazardous conditions and contaminants.
• Work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting.
• Exposure to high noise levels.
• Work in enclosed vehicles or equipment.
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.

Travel up to 40% may be required, including overnight travel.
