About the Role
Responsible for custom fabrication and build-up of municipal trucks.
Responsibilities
- Support all daily functions of the shop.
- Fabricate, modify, and install truck bodies and equipment to chassis.
- Utilize tools such as:
- Welders
- Torches
- Plasma cutters
- Shears
- Punch presses
- Drill press
- Metal cutting saws
- Fabricate parts as needed.
- Weld ferrous and nonferrous metals using MIG or Arc (electrode) techniques.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Requirements
- General comprehension of, and experience in, the truck build-up process.
- General understanding of truck components.
- Experience with welding/fabrication.
- Ability to work alone with minimal or no supervision.
- Working knowledge of basic office software (such as Microsoft Office).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current regular driver’s license to move vehicles.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, crouching, kneeling.
- Manual finger dexterity.
- Heavy lifting; 30 pounds or more.
- Twisting, bending, reaching, and stretching.
- Long periods of standing.
- Exposure to shop noise and dust.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
