About the Location

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations is an open-pit copper mining complex that has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation includes two concentrators, a crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system, four SX plants, and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Morenci is a unique company town with amenities such as company housing (or a $750 monthly housing allowance for eligible on-site employees), a newly constructed daycare and community center, library, health-care facilities, state-of-the-art fitness centers, a movie theater, and a skate park. Our dedicated Parks and Recreation Division plans activities for all ages, including hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and numerous parks.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections to maximize equipment and tire life.
• Execute assignments from a computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio.
• Receive training, mentoring, and feedback from operators, supervisors, and equipment trainers.
• Understand changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards.
• Know the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident.
• Have knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake.
• Safely perform tasks such as spotting at shovel, loading, transporting material, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
• Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable).
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills and pass a written assessment where required.
• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and all required training/testing.
• Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shift work at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.

Pay

The estimated pay range for this role is $19.00–$26.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
