Truck Driver Trainee

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections to maximize equipment and tire life
• Execute assignments from a computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio
• Receive training, mentoring, and feedback from other operators, supervisors, and equipment trainers
• Understand changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards
• Know procedures such as start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident response
• Be knowledgeable about payload measurement systems, over-speed alarms, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brakes, and park brakes
• Ensure safe performance of tasks including spotting at the shovel, loading, transporting material, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at the crusher
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
• Communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards
• Complete academic and practical competencies required (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees)
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment if required
• High School diploma or GED preferred

• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required
• Must have experience demonstrating the required aptitude

Skills

• Understanding of equipment and safety procedures
• Effective communication skills
• Problem-solving abilities

Pay

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 - $24.00/hour.

Schedule

This role is eligible for non-standard schedules, including shift work at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
