Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants for the role of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This casual/on-call part-time position involves delivering and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A holders, tractors and trailers. The role may also include assisting the service department with parts and equipment delivery.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations
• Inspect vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• 2 years of driving experience
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
• Valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred)
• Must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently, strong customer service and organizational skills, and a positive attitude
• English language proficiency (required by federal law, 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable attendance
• Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including:
  • Annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check
  • Successfully completed DOT Physical
  • Safety Performance History records from prior employers in the last 3 years
  • DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start (for CDL holders) and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete a background investigation and drug screening
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, accepting responsibility for personal and others' safety

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see and hear, with specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting required
• Frequent use of hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area

Pay

$20.75–$20.25 per hour

Schedule

Casual/on-call part-time, 0–25 hours per week based on business needs.
