About the role

This position is for new hire drivers and/or entry-level driver trainees. You will safely transport and deliver products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form while complying with all state and local traffic laws.

Responsibilities

• Maintain conscientiousness for safety while driving and performing all other duties
• Complete all Truck Driver Training and Development Programs
• Fully comply with all FMCSA/DOT regulations and Company policies and procedures
• Haul, load, and handle products as assigned while maintaining efficiencies such as fuel and best hauling and loading practices
• Inspect truck for defects before, during, and after trips and submit a report indicating truck condition
• Obtain schedule of load times and locations for the day and drive truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills
• Back up and maneuver in and around tight areas
• Maintain electronic driver log according to DOT regulations
• Regularly inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
• Make truck and/or trailer available for scheduled maintenance

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements
• Current/valid DOT Medical Certification
• At least 21 years of age due to travel requirements, or 18 years of age to operate solely in intrastate capacity
• Meet DOT Qualifications
• Accurately and timely complete Company and DOT required forms

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• CDL Truck Driver School
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating commercial vehicles under a CDL-A license

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit in driver’s seat of truck while driving and waiting
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend over, or stoop
• Must be able to hook up and unhook tractor and related lines to and from trailer
• Required to climb and balance while getting in and out of the truck and while hooking and unhooking lines to and from the trailer
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions during all seasons
• Occasionally works in high, precarious places
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud

Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees

Pay

$30.60 per hour. The compensation offered may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, and other job-related reasons.
