Description

Examples of Duties

• Drives a truck and assists support personnel of the truck in the performance of work for which the truck is operated.
• Keeps daily written records as required by division.
• Maintains a knowledge of the streets of Cleveland.
• Operates all motorized equipment and/or vehicles assigned to the Division of Park Maintenance and Properties.
• Assists, to the extent possible, in other ground maintenance functions.
• Operates the truck mechanism for loading, unloading and compacting.
• Drives a dump truck, manual or automatic shift, with hydraulic lifts and compressing operations.
• Responsible for the normal preventative maintenance of his/her assigned vehicle such as, but not limited to, checking oil, checking tires, checking water, checking fuel and fuel lights.
• Follows all operations and safety policies and safe work practices.
• Attends and participates in operations and safety training classes and demonstrates competence (demonstration of competence may be determined by exam).
• Wears and properly utilizes safety equipment in accordance with Divisional policy at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.
• A valid State of Ohio Class A or B Commercial Driver's License is required.
• A good driving record is required.
• The ability to lift and carry 75 pounds is required.
• The ability to work outside in all types of weather is required.
• The position requires being a City of Cleveland Seasonal Snow Removal Vehicle Operator.
• An Airbrake endorsement is required.
• A Trailer endorsement is required.
• Four years of full-time paid experience operating a Waste collection vehicle or straight truck is required.
