Truck Driver
About the role
We are seeking experienced and dependable CDL Class A Truck Drivers to safely transport freight while providing exceptional service to customers. This position offers flexible route options, competitive negotiable pay, and the opportunity to be home every other day depending on load assignments.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Safely operate a CDL Class A tractor-trailer in accordance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Transport freight on local and regional routes based on business needs.
- Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Secure and inspect cargo to ensure safe transportation.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and required shipping documentation.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and shipping/receiving personnel.
- Follow delivery schedules while maintaining a strong safety record.
- Driver assist with loading or unloading may be required on some loads, although most loads are no-touch freight.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns or safety issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A License.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Class A CDL driving experience.
- Experience operating 53-foot tractor-trailers preferred.
- Valid DOT Medical Certificate.
- Registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
- Must successfully pass a DOT drug screen.
- Clean driving record with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- No drug-related offenses or DUI convictions.
Schedule
Routes vary based on freight assignments. Start and end times vary by load. Local and regional opportunities available. Home every other day may be possible depending on route. Weekend work is available but not required. Average weekly hours vary based on freight volume.
Compensation
Negotiable pay structure: Daily Rate or Per Mile. Opportunity for pay increases based on performance and experience. This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. No company-sponsored benefits, PTO, holiday pay, per diem, or 401(k).
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Driver assist loading/unloading may occasionally be required.
- Able to climb in and out of the tractor multiple times throughout the day.
- Safely secure freight and perform required inspections.
- Work primarily outdoors while operating commercial vehicles in varying weather conditions.
Safety Requirements
- Follow all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies.
- Wear appropriate PPE when required at customer locations (such as safety vest, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and gloves).
- Maintain compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report safety concerns immediately.
