What You’ll Do
- Case & Core Litigation Management: Draft complex legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, orders, and notices. Accurately maintain master case calendars and track critical deadlines.
- Trial Preparedness & Courtroom Logistics: Take ownership of the trial-preparation phase. Manage all trial logistics, compile exhibit lists, build flawless trial notebooks, number exhibits, and conduct case law cite-checks.
- Data & Large-Scale Document Production: Oversee, categorize, and organize massive document productions (often spanning thousands of pages). Sort, index, and manipulate data to keep complex files organized.
- Medical & Deposition Summaries: Review, analyze, and summarize detailed medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses into actionable insights for the trial team.
- Court Filings: Electronically file (e-file) pleadings and motions through ECF, or file conventionally within county courts as required.
- Legal Research & Investigation: Conduct deep-dive research into complex legal issues using Westlaw or LexisNexis. Assist with fact-checking, witness interviews, and evidence investigation.
- Strategic Communication: Act as a primary liaison between clients, expert witnesses, vendors, opposing counsel, and internal trial teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Firm Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and the Director of Practice Support to achieve firm goals and handle other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- The Experience: Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, backed by a proven, successful track record of direct trial experience.
- Technical Mastery: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and specialized legal tech, with experience capturing and recording billable hours.
- Research Skills: Strong capability utilizing Westlaw or LexisNexis for comprehensive legal research.
- Medical Literacy: Direct experience reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing complex medical records.
- Education: A Paralegal Certificate or an undergraduate degree from an accredited paralegal program is highly desired.
- Professional Attributes: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a high degree of client focus, and the absolute attention to detail required to work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
