About the role

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Triage Screening Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that wounded warriors and their families have access to the mental health resources they need. This position involves serving as a subject-matter expert, conducting comprehensive screenings, and coordinating with external and internal resources to enhance the resiliency and psychological well-being of warriors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject-matter expert and resource in planning, coordination, and execution of mental health programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments of referred warriors or family support members' mental health.
  • Ensure continuity of care for Alumni and Family Support Members through appropriate resource referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case documentation and data within WWP internal databases.
  • Develop familiarity and understanding of external mental health partner services.
  • Act as primary triage for mental health and wellness program referrals, coordinating with appropriate resources.
  • Conduct routine warrior outreach and needs assessment using specific criteria.
  • Provide mental health and wellness materials and conduct briefs for internal and external workshops.
  • Leverage WWP information technology platforms to create and document referrals.
  • Attend and participate in required training and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience providing mental and brain health programming or adult mental health focused case management.
  • Two years of military/veteran experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, human services, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related mental health field.
  • ASIST Certification within one year of hire.
