Trenchless Geotechnical Team Lead
About the role
The Trenchless Geotechnical Team Lead will report to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead, contributing to the Trenchless Program by applying geologic information to engineering and design practices, leading geotechnical exploration campaigns, evaluating subsurface conditions, determining solutions for problematic geologic conditions, and integrating geotechnical data into project deliverables.
- Lead comprehensive geotechnical investigations for trenchless projects.
- Direct and oversee subcontracted geotechnical drilling crews for exploratory campaigns.
- Perform field soil and rock logging and testing.
- Coordinate laboratory programs and analyze data.
- Generate reports and reports on geotechnical data.
- Represent HDR’s Trenchless Services team in geotechnical investigations, site visits, and client meetings.
- Manage and delegate responsibilities to other geologists or geotechnical professionals.
- Lead and manage a team of geotechnical-focused individuals.
- Assess subsurface conditions and lead efforts for incorporating geological and geotechnical data into critical determinations during design and construction.
- Support other business groups within HDR organization.
- Travel as necessary to perform field work.
- Monitor and report on daily activities, run geological field tests, interpret lab test results, maintain field test equipment, and present field data.
- Advance capabilities in software programs for generating trenchless deliverables.
- Assist in geotechnical analyses of subsurface conditions.
- Support Trenchless engineering, design, and field services efforts across all regions and business groups.
Responsibilities
Focus on leading and executing comprehensive geotechnical investigations for various trenchless projects. This includes completing field work to direct and oversee subcontracted geotechnical drilling crews for the exploratory campaign, performing field soil and rock logging and testing, collecting geotechnical data, coordinating laboratory programs, analyzing data, and generating reports.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or other related field required.
- Experience in the OpenGround software.
- Proven history of ability to work and communicate successfully in remote work environments.
- Experience leading and managing direct reports.
- Experience managing subconsultants.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.

Skills
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
- Knowledge and a good understanding of ASTM Standards for geotechnical concepts and subsurface material classification(s) based on various testing methods.
- Proficiency in gINT Software Products, ArcGIS, AutoDesk.
- Strong writing skills.

Pay
Expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $120,182 - $172,810.
Schedule
Travel is required.
