Responsibilities

• Working under the supervision of a Caltrans Tree Maintenance Supervisor in Special Crews
• Performs miscellaneous laboring duties related to highway tree maintenance
• Works individually or with a crew, and may be loaned to another crew
• Desirable to possess a Class A or Class B California Commercial Driver's License, tanker, air brakes, hazardous materials and passenger endorsements
• May work out of town on a per diem basis up to 80% of the year
• Eligible for hire may be determined by your score on the Tree Maintenance Worker, Caltrans exam
• Must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions
• May be required to work overtime, nights and weekends due to storms, emergencies, or special work projects, as determined by the Supervisor or Department

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Class C is required
• Valid California Drivers License (CDL) is required
• Drug Screening must be passed prior to being hired
• Background Investigation must be cleared prior to being hired
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle
