Basic Function Tree Climbers serve a pivotal role on tree care crews, with the primary responsibility of climbing and assisting the crew leader in the performance of all general tree work services. Tree Climber Responsibilities Perform all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leaderAssist in the performance of specialized pruning and take-downs, installing cabling and bracingSafely operate equipmentParticipate in all job site safety briefingsPerform proper climbing techniques and procedures, pruning skills, application of approved knots and rigging techniquesAssist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking dutiesPerform ground duties such as job site set up, roping and rigging, felling, and job clean up as required. Utilize knowledge of compartmentalization and other concepts related to tree wounding/pruning Requirements Two/four year degree in Arboriculture or 2+ years of tree care industry experienceKnowledge of pruning techniques including large shade trees and ornamentalsAbility to climb utilizing rope and saddle. Knowledge of industry standard rigging techniques and knotsKnowledge of native and introduced tree and shrub species and characteristics of each speciesAbility to safely operate and maintain chainsaws and other standard equipmentExperience with bucket truck operationValid Driver's License, CDL preferred Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package, $22-$35 per hour, based on experience, plus overtime, medical and dental plans with employer contribution, 401K retirement savings plan, paid time off, and more!
