About the Role
The Tree Care Manager coordinates and directs sales and works in a manner consistent with company standards and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities
- Manage Tree Care Sales and direct reports.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain courteous customer interactions.
- Attend homeowners’ meetings as needed.
- Recruit, interview, and evaluate potential employees.
- Direct, counsel, and evaluate direct reports.
- Maintain a company planner and uphold the highest standards of commitment and dedication.
- Ensure quality processes and results based on specifications, contract agreements, customer budgets, expectations, and company profitability.
- Attend pre-bid meetings when appropriate.
- Handle bid presentation and sales, prepare estimates, collect production data, and create sales presentations.
- Negotiate and renew contracts.
- Track all prospects in the territory, maintain regular contact, and identify new prospects (including those who can influence, refer, or make decisions regarding tree care).
- Schedule and keep regular appointments with prospects and accounts to sell new business or renew existing services.
- Pre-qualify all potential customers using established company sales interview techniques.
- Create and maintain an ongoing prospecting and lead generation system.
- Serve as the district’s primary contact during the presentation of company proposals for Tree Care Services.
- Comply with all established company policies and procedures.
- Sign a nondisclosure and noncompetition agreement to protect confidential and proprietary information.
- Work after hours or on weekends as needed to accomplish goals.
- Plan annual goals and objectives with the Branch Manager.
- Determine personnel needs for projected growth and expansion.
Requirements
- Must hold and maintain a Certified Arborist License.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and managers.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier.
- Competency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Manager.
- Able to stand or sit while using office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, fax machines, and multi-extension telephones.
- Vision capabilities to adjust focus for close computer work.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable work-related experience.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor physical labor in temperatures ranging from 30°F to 100°F+ and exposure to light rain.
- Limited weekly work within an office environment.
- Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, noise, and pollutants related to the landscape industry (e.g., fertilizer, pesticide).
- Exposure to machinery/equipment noise, traffic, and hazards related to the landscape/tree care industry in a busy commercial environment.
