Requirements
- Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and a minimum of one year experience at the level of a Treatment Plant Operator I or Pretreatment Specialist I; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
- Must be certified in water or wastewater treatment by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).
- Special Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
Qualifications
- Mobile and Saraland - possession of a Grade III Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment, preferably both, except for assignment to the Stickney Filtration Plant (Moffat Road) and the Myers Filtration Plant (Hubert Pierce Road which requires a Grade IV Water Certificate.
- Prichard - possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment OR possession of a Grade III or IV Wastewater Certificate.
- Bayou La Batre - possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment or Grade III Certificate in Wastewater Treatment.
- Other smaller jurisdictions require possession of a Grade II Certification in Water or Wastewater Treatment or both.
