Traveling Superintendent - Mission Critical

About the Role

This position requires 100% travel. The Superintendent plays a critical role in the success of our construction projects, with responsibility for day-to-day field operations including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and safety enforcement. This position ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with a focus on quality and client satisfaction. Retail construction experience is highly preferred, as this role involves fast-paced, schedule-driven environments with a strong emphasis on site logistics and phasing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input in developing the master construction schedule; track and report deviations to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of all on-site construction activities.
  • Manage the daily activities of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring alignment with project specifications, safety standards, and quality control protocols.
  • Supervise all subcontractor work to minimize punch list items and enforce development and completion of pre-punch checklists.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, job logs, as-built drawings, and field change orders.
  • Conduct and lead regular subcontractor coordination meetings to resolve conflicts and maintain workflow.
  • Enforce all job-site safety policies and procedures and lead by example to foster a culture of safety.
  • Coordinate timely material deliveries and maintain tight control over job-site logistics to reduce disruption, especially in occupied retail environments.
  • Maintain and review daily jobsite logs and provide weekly updates to the Project Manager.
  • Assist in reviewing project estimates and bid documents during preconstruction phases.
  • Review and make recommendations on subcontractor/vendor invoices in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for client representatives, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the project closeout process is conducted smoothly, including completion of all punch list items and sign-off by owner/architect.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive field supervision experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience supporting mission critical, data center, or similar projects required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven ability to lead field operations and collaborate with multiple trades under tight schedules.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders, walk multi-story job sites, and work outdoors in Texas weather conditions.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
