Traveling Solar Technician III

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a full-time Traveling Solar Technician. This position requires overnight travel on a frequent basis depending on company needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and oversight of issues that may arise at a solar farm across the USA
• Diagnose a full range of solar service issues
• Provide outstanding customer experience; maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times
• Travel using own vehicle or company-owned vehicle
• Participate in staff meetings and assist with broader company initiatives
• Provide daily reports
• Effectively use hand and power tools, as well as a laptop and a variety of programs/applications
• Learn and understand basic low voltage electrical systems
• Operate machinery/equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, rock drills, jack hammers, compressors, generators, winches
• Troubleshoot technical issues
• Clean, maintain, and inventory company-owned tools/equipment
• Act professionally in remote areas, on active construction sites, or in the office
• Think creatively and encourage open-mindedness
• Drive self-improvement and motivate excellence in coworkers
• Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Drive long distances in heavy work trucks, often with trailers in tow

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year working in the renewable energy industry or relevant experience from another industry
• Great safety track record
• Knowledge of all major solar and energy storage products
• Training on top-tier inverters a plus
• Highly organized and punctual
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license; must pass background check and physical
• Ability to work through issues and troubleshoot safely
• Accommodate frequent travel
• Work as a member of a small team, as well as independently in the field
• Ability to work in various positions, including standing, stooping, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods
• Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
• Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
• Lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday
• Sustain prolonged exposure to extreme weather and environmental conditions
• Comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots)

Physical Requirements

• Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations)
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (use assistance for heavier loads)
• Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel)
• Wear a respirator and other PPE when required

Environmental Conditions

• Predominantly outdoor work
