Traveling Senior Quality Control Specialist (34485)

This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for leading and ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of electrical systems and equipment across various projects and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections and tests on electrical systems, components, and equipment to verify functionality and adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Create and enforce the quality management plan for the assigned project or site.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure electrical systems are built and maintained to the highest standards.
• Develop and enforce quality control procedures and guidelines to prevent defects and ensure product reliability.
• Monitor compliance with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure all electrical work adheres to safety guidelines and local laws.
• Accurately document inspection and testing results, create inspection reports, and maintain detailed records of quality control processes.
• Report non-compliance issues and collaborate with relevant teams to address and rectify them.
• Continuously assess and identify opportunities to improve quality control processes, methodologies, and practices to enhance efficiency and reduce potential risks.
• Oversee and manage the calibration and maintenance of electrical testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide training and support on quality control procedures and best practices.
• Investigate and perform root cause analysis for quality-related issues or failures, providing recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
• Assess and evaluate the performance of electrical component suppliers to ensure their products meet required quality standards.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Quality Control, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications and technical training are advantageous.
• Proven experience in quality control within the electrical industry, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or engineering projects.
• Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and inspection techniques.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, ISO 9001).
• Experience with document review (submittals, drawings, coordination, checklists), work inspection, and document writing (checklists).
• Ability to resolve issues, track punch list items, and drive field teams toward solutions.
• Provide field assistance, including training to reduce or eliminate common issues.
• Willingness to travel 75-100% as required.
• Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using computer software and applications related to quality control and documentation.
• Knowledge of a Quality Management Plan and practices for implementation.
• Leadership experience with a team of at least 4 people preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, with possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, rain, heat, cold, and snow.
• Work at extreme heights, in areas under construction, or in restricted spaces such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, or attics.
• Work in confined spaces and on slippery or uneven surfaces, including ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, ditches, and excavations.
• Work in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift up to 51 pounds routinely.
• Constantly move about on your feet and climb ladders of all types.
• Complete full-day assignments involving overhead work.
• Transition from employee parking or street into construction work areas, accessing all levels of the building, even if the only means is by OSHA-approved site construction ladders or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
• Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
• Possess good vision (normal or corrected), including close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color-coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Possess good hearing (normal or corrected).
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
• Work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, with overtime, weekends, and night shifts as required. Flexible work hours are necessary to meet project deadlines.
• Work in the presence of customers and their representatives with minimal interference or disruption while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
