Traveling Senior Quality Control Specialist (34422)

This is a safety-sensitive position focused on leading quality control for electrical systems and equipment across projects and manufacturing processes. The role involves developing project-specific quality programs, training onsite teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections and tests on electrical systems, components, and equipment to verify functionality and adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Create and enforce the quality management plan for assigned projects/sites.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure electrical systems meet the highest standards.
• Develop and enforce quality control procedures and guidelines to prevent defects and ensure product reliability.
• Monitor compliance with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, ISO 9001).
• Document inspection and testing results, create reports, and maintain detailed records of quality control processes.
• Report non-compliance issues and collaborate with teams to address and rectify them.
• Continuously assess and improve quality control processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risks.
• Oversee calibration and maintenance of electrical testing equipment for accurate results.
• Provide training and support to engineering and production teams on quality control procedures and best practices.
• Perform root cause analysis for quality-related issues and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
• Evaluate electrical component suppliers to ensure their products meet required quality standards.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Quality Control, or a related field preferred; relevant certifications and technical training are advantageous.
• Proven experience in quality control within the electrical industry, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or engineering projects.
• Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and inspection techniques.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, ISO 9001).
• Experience with document review (submittals, drawings, coordination, checklists).
• Ability to perform work inspections and document findings (checklists, issue tracking, punch lists).
• Field assistance and training capabilities to address common issues and reduce recurring problems.
• 75-100% travel as required.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in quality control software and documentation tools.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Plan implementation and practices.
• Leadership experience with teams of at least 4 people preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work indoors or outdoors with exposure to hot/cold temperatures and all-weather elements (rain, heat, cold, snow).
• Work at extreme heights, in restricted areas (switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics), confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces.
• Work on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches, and excavations.
• Exposure to construction site hazards, including portable sanitary facilities and multi-story buildings under construction.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift up to 51 pounds routinely.
• Constant movement on feet and ability to climb all types of ladders.
• Perform overhead work for full-day assignments.
• Navigate construction sites, including O.S.H.A.-approved ladders or stairs still under construction.
• Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete tasks.
• Good vision (normal or corrected), including close/distance vision, color vision (for wire coding), peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Good hearing (normal or corrected).
• Must wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
• Work 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, with overtime, weekends, and night shifts as required.
• Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work professionally in the presence of customers and their representatives with minimal disruption.
