Traveling Project Manager 1 - Justice

About the Role

JE Dunn, ENR’s #2-ranked Contractor in Correctional Facilities Construction, is seeking individuals to join our traveling family, building innovative, efficient, safe, and technologically advanced courthouses and corrections facilities. The Traveling Project Manager 1 - Justice will support the growing portfolio of projects for JE Dunn Justice clients throughout the United States, working closely with the Project Superintendent to manage project operations and administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the company’s safety culture, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
• Manage the JE Dunn prestart process and support the preconstruction team in tasks such as quantity takeoff, trade coordination, scope review, bid package development, and schedule creation.
• Lead the implementation of the buyout schedule, verify pricing and scope, and manage subcontractor issuance.
• Manage the submittal schedule, review and approve shop drawings, and ensure approved submittals are returned to subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Logistics for material and equipment pricing, and with risk management for subcontractor approval and bonding requirements.
• Manage stakeholder coordination, including subcontractors, owners, design teams, and vendors.
• Prepare and submit change requests, gather subcontractor pricing, and obtain owner/architect approval.
• Lead project meetings, including monthly reviews, progress meetings, and OAC meetings.
• Complete monthly subcontractor and owner pay applications.
• Develop and update project schedules, manage resources, and identify potential schedule impacts.
• Provide written documentation for project decisions and regular reporting on project status and profitability.
• Prepare monthly cost and margin forecasts, review costs against the budget, and participate in budget development.
• Lead the project closeout process, including punch lists, financials, subcontracts, and warranties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• 5+ years of construction management experience.
• Prior experience on large or complex Justice/Corrections projects is preferred.

Skills

• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, scheduling software, and construction technology.
• Knowledge of construction management means and methods.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.
• Understanding of Lean process and philosophy.
• Budget management and profitability skills.

Working Environment

• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Periods of travel and/or relocation may be required.
• Non-traditional work hours may be necessary.
• Exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold) possible.
• Frequent sitting and computer screen viewing; occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.
