Traveling Nurse Evaluator (PRN)

About the role
Prometric is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with experience in long-term care to administer the Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) Exam. This role evaluates candidates pursuing their CNA certification and ensures the highest quality test experience consistent with Prometric’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Policy & Procedures. Ideal candidates must have a flexible schedule and availability to work 1–4 days per month on a traveling/on-call/as-needed basis.
This position covers events in the following towns: Lowville, Watertown, Gouverneur, Canton, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Norwood, Massena, and Malone. Examinations are performed mainly Monday through Friday, with some Saturday and occasional Sunday events. The role involves administering up to 3 test days a week (an average of 8 hours per test day) at various locations within an 85-mile radius of the employee’s zip code.
Responsibilities
- Provide evaluation of candidate skills based on training provided by Prometric.
- Build working relationships with test site locations and ensure location readiness prior to exam dates.
- Proactively communicate site location issues that interfere with exam administrations.
- Proctor computerized knowledge-based examinations and objectively observe and score candidates demonstrating clinical skills.
- Prepare for test events by monitoring rosters and ensuring the site is correctly set up and cleaned up.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Prometric policies and practices to control the test area.
- Greet examinees, verify identification, and monitor candidates as they complete their written and/or practical exams.
- Manage the testing environment to ensure candidate flow and observe/rate candidates during practical exams.
- Resolve candidate issues or report them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Protect exam content by administering computer-based testing and possess technical proficiency to reboot workstations or reset passwords as necessary.
- Ensure the delivery of a seamless candidate testing experience.
- Report any occurrences that fall outside company guidelines to the appropriate supervisor.
- Serve as an as-needed/on-call resource for specific testing events based on business needs (no guaranteed minimum hours; schedules may vary).
- Communicate availability in advance and respond to scheduling outreach within required timeframes.
- Travel to assigned event sites (which may be outside the primary city/metro area) and arrive prepared to administer and evaluate exams in accordance with Prometric standards.
- Accept or decline event assignments based on availability; once accepted, commit to the full scheduled event hours.
- Maintain all required licensure, training, and compliance to remain eligible for assignment.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with testing sites (regional or in-facility).
- Maintain an online appointment schedule to ensure event coverage.
- Provide on-site leadership for candidates and foster professional relationships with peers, sites, and internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a Prometric Brand Ambassador by displaying professionalism, integrity, and emotional intelligence during interactions.
- Coordinate candidate rosters and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of operation.
- One (1) year of experience in long-term care or caring for the chronically ill of any age.
- Staff development and/or training experience preferred.
- BA/BS degree preferred but not required.
Skills
- Intermediate to advanced technical skills and familiarity with computer programs and applications (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, web browsing).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Access to personal computer equipment (e.g., laptop, printer).
- Valid Driver’s License and vehicle to travel to test events.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and able to solve problems independently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel 30 miles or more one way from zip code.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per event).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (testing mannequin).
