About the Role
A Flight Nurse provides high-quality critical care during patient transport, assessing, triaging, and treating patients in a helicopter environment. Working alongside a Flight Paramedic, the role requires administering medications and delivering advanced life support in confined, noisy conditions, demanding quick decision-making and clinical expertise in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments
- Manage critical care interventions
- Operate medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps
- Ensure patient safety during transport
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN licensure
- At least three years of ER or Critical Care experience
- Relevant certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and completion of trauma and prehospital life support courses
Qualifications
Preference for candidates with:
- A Bachelor's in Nursing
- Flight paramedic experience
- Certifications such as CEN or CCRN
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with advanced medical devices
- Ability to work in high-stress, variable environments
- Physical capacity to lift 50 pounds
- Tolerance for environmental stressors associated with flight
- Must pass fitness and weight requirements
