Role Overview
The Flight Nurse I provides advanced, autonomous critical care during air and ground transports, ensuring patient stabilization and safety. They assess, perform life support procedures, manage equipment, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced life support and critical care during transport
- Assess and stabilize critically ill or injured patients
- Manage airway, cardiac care, and medications
- Maintain equipment readiness and document care accurately
- Collaborate with healthcare teams and ensure safety protocols
- Meet certification and physical requirements, pursuing CFRN and trauma certifications as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed registered nurse with current certifications in ALS, BLS, PALS, and trauma care
- Emergency room or critical care experience with strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to make autonomous decisions under pressure
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- BSN degree required; ongoing education to meet certification deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform strenuous tasks and operate complex medical equipment
- Work in high-stress, confined, and variable environments
