Traveling Airport Paving Superintendent (Independence Excavating)

Responsibilities

• Manage concrete paving airport projects and supervise day-to-day activities.
• Assess resources needed for each assignment and generate cost estimates based on assessment to inform project budget.
• Direct and lead the onsite foreman and make onsite decisions.
• Communicate the plan and directive with the foreman and subcontractors.
• Care for a safe work site and certify that all company safety protocols are followed.
• Represent the company with professionalism and lead the overall construction effort in accordance with design, quality, and schedule.
• Develop the work schedule with the project manager and maintain and lead discussion of a two-week look ahead.
• Communicate daily with the Construction Operations Manager about schedules and resources needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Additional construction certifications or training preferred.
• 5-10 years’ of experience as a Superintendent.
• Working knowledge of FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, and various state DOT specifications.
• Strong organizational skills to handle variety of tasks assigned.
• Positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government offices.
• Able to effectively manage union workforces.
• Able to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners and general contractors.
• A forward-thinking drive to continually improve and willingness to learn.
• Able to attain certain certifications that may be needed on an as-needed project basis.
