Job Summary
The role involves caring for patients from the emergency department who are awaiting bed placement in the hospital, with a strong focus on cardiac telemetry. The role requires experience in telemetry, including the ability to interpret strips and titrate titratable medications such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone, with a particular emphasis on cardiac care.
Job Details
- Shift Schedule: Days and 12-hour shifts (7 a.m. - 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.), with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid cardiology telemetry experience of at least 2 years within the past 6 months.
- Recent clinical experience.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications.
- Pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving the offer through RELIAS, with a maximum of two attempts.
- Participate in a PASS/FAIL simulation lab on day one of orientation.
Additional Job Details
- Must have a strong cardiac telemetry background; nurses will be decreasing cardiac drips as ordered by physicians.
- Will assist with patient vitals, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not be responsible for primary patient assignments in the emergency department.
- Floating to medical/surgical/telemetry/overflow units and other emergency departments as required.
- Unit orientation includes two shifts on Med/Surg/Telemetry at the primary campus.
- No vents or mechanical respiratory equipment required.
- The role includes rotating weekend shifts (4 per 4-week schedule), holiday rotations, and the ability to self-schedule with the possibility of changing policies.
- Floating is required to Med/Surg, Telemetry, and overflow units as needed.
- Scrub color/dress code: Navy.
- Charting system used is Cerner.
- Must hold a valid license to submit.

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
