Travel Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and terminate fiber optic cabling throughout data center facilities.
- Assemble, install, and organize data center racks and cabinets.
- Perform fiber splicing and maintain proper cable management standards.
- Complete rack-and-stack activities, including server installations and top-of-rack connections.
- Install and organize patch cabling between servers, network equipment, and Optical Distribution Frames (ODFs).
- Troubleshoot physical layer connectivity issues and support site commissioning efforts.
- Respond to infrastructure-related service tickets and assist in resolving network connectivity problems.
- Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and project specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Experience running and installing fiber optic cabling.
- Rack-and-stack experience in a data center, telecommunications, or related technical environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to fiber infrastructure and physical layer connectivity.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to take direction, adapt to changing project needs, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the data center industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fiber splicing experience.
- Experience using OTDR equipment for fiber testing and troubleshooting.
- Previous data center deployment, commissioning, or infrastructure buildout experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Travel technicians will be provided lodging by IES near data center locations.
- Accommodations are typically arranged through extended-stay hotels such as Candlewood Suites and Marriott.
- Travel is coordinated through the IES travel department, with the option to fly or use a rental vehicle.
- Techicians may also fly home once every 8 weeks.

This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
