Travel assignment in Santa Monica, California for a Social Worker specializing in psychiatry consult liaison services.
About the role
This social worker provides support to the psychiatry consult liaison service. Interventions include collateral for initial psychiatric evaluation and community placement for patients meeting criteria for inpatient psychiatric care. Other support as needed.
Schedule
- 13-week assignment starting ASAP
- 40 hours per week, 4×10-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
- Preferred schedule: Saturday–Tuesday; alternate Sunday–Wednesday available if needed
- Weekend work required
- No on-call duty
- No floating between units
- Charting system: Epic
Responsibilities
- 5150/Involuntary holds
- Assess response to treatment
- Biopsychosocial assessment
- Case management
- Collaborative care
- Complete intake and admission screenings
- Conduct initial evaluation
- Coordinate with internal and external team members
- Develop plan of care to meet patient/caregiver needs
- Development of problem list
- Documentation according to plan of care, including care delivery, goals, patient/caregiver teaching, and patient response
- Document pertinent information to facilitate care coordination
- Educate patient/caregiver to facilitate discharge
- Emergency detention
- Establish and revise goals
- Guardianship and Power of Attorney
- High-risk intervention for patient vulnerability or safety risk
- Knowledge of cultural issues
- Participate in development of treatment plan
- Participate in care conference activities
- Perform biopsychosocial assessments
- Provide/reinforce individualized patient/caregiver education, support, and advocacy
- Refer to other disciplines/resources
- Review health history
- Work with multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
- Support patients consulted for psychiatric evaluation in adult and geriatric populations
Requirements
- Active California LCSW license
- AHA BLS certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Travel experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Experience with psychiatric disorders, psychiatric hospitals, emergency departments, medical-surgical units, Medicare, and Medicaid
Eligibility Restrictions
- Candidates currently active with any University of California (UC) entity (career or contractor) are ineligible
- Former UCLA contractors/travelers/perm employees must be cleared by Talent Management before submission (RNs require 12-month separation)
- Locals accepted at the same bill rate
- Pre-start modules (non-billable, up to 4 hours) required; vary by specialty
