About the role

Adjunctive Therapist position at Sweeten Creek Mental Health and Wellness Center, which offers both inpatient and outpatient programs. The facility has 120 beds across 6 units: adult units accommodate up to 24 patients, child units up to 8, and adolescent units up to 16.

Equipment provided includes a laptop and/or desktop computer. Each unit is equipped with a TV featuring Webex capabilities for sharing videos or created content with groups.

Documentation system: Cerner

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch break).

Responsibilities

  • Complete Activity Therapy Assessments for adult, child, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
  • Run psychotherapeutic group activities and document in the medical record.
  • Develop assessments and treatment plans for new patients.
  • Facilitate four groups per day across various units (primary group facilitator role).
  • Collaborate with RNs and Techs present in groups to maintain staff-to-patient ratios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy, expressive arts therapy).
  • Certification, licensure, or registration in an appropriate area, such as:
    • NC Licensed Recreational Therapist or Associate (LRT or LRT-A or CTRS).
    • Registered Art Therapist (ATR).
    • Music Therapist (MT).
    • Dance Movement Therapist (R-DMT).
    • Alternatively, LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT may be considered if sourcing alternative therapies therapists is challenging.
