Travel Senior MEP Project Manager-Mission Critical
Duties And Responsibilities
- Aids in the preparation of project estimates.
- Prepares project budgets and unit cost reports.
- Leads the project team in preparing the project management plan (PMP).
- Participates in value engineering services as needed.
- Organizes and conducts pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
- Participates in the negotiation and preparation of project subcontracts.
- Participates in obtaining permits and resolving other regulatory requirements as necessary.
- Prepares a project schedule and develops milestones.
- Ensures plans and specifications are complete and consistent.
- Assists business development personnel as requested.
- Manages the successful execution of the construction contract.
- Manages project materials and equipment procurement within budget constraints and schedule.
- Develops and monitors project quality, safety, and risk management plans.
- Maintains cost, safety, quality, and schedule performance on the project site.
- Evaluates the schedule to meet milestones and financial goals.
- Negotiates change orders and manages cost and profit impacts.
- Develops monthly client pay requests and follows up on collections.
- Controls payment of job costs based on document review and approval.
- Collaborates with the job cost accountant for payments and lien releases.
- Attends and documents owner and other coordination meetings.
- Coordinates all final close-out procedures for the project, including as-built drawings, close-out, letter of substantial completion, and letter of recommendation.
- Provides project cost information for the estimating database.
- Directs organization and preparation of all project documents for storage.
- Participates in PM training.
- Interacts with all company departments to ensure policies and procedures are carried out and corporate objectives are achieved.
- Maintains relationships with vendors, owners, architects, community members, and state officials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of six to eight years of project management experience within Data Center Construction.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial construction processes.
- Understanding of estimating concepts, including bid verification, market rates, and change order processing.
- Knowledge of contractual language and concepts to protect the company while providing quality service to the client.
- Working knowledge of construction laws and practices.
- Understanding of building codes and design requirements relevant to the project.
- High standards of ethical conduct regarding organizational policies.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, including sensitivity and discernment.
- Ability to make verbal presentations and demonstrate poise and mastery of language.
- Proficiency in using proper grammar and syntax when writing.
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively and determine which customer needs can be reasonably met.
- Professional affiliation (e.g., AGC member) and professional credentials (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE)) preferred.
