Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the cardiovascular operating room before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Ensure all instruments, supplies, implants, and equipment are available and functioning properly.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons during cardiac and vascular procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention protocols.
- Assist with procedures including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, vascular surgeries, and other cardiovascular interventions.
- Handle, prepare, and manage surgical instruments, grafts, and specialty cardiovascular equipment.
- Participate in surgical counts and documentation according to hospital policy.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, nurses, and support staff.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred or required per state regulations.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent CVOR experience.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical instrumentation and procedures.
- Current BLS certification.
- PREFERRED: Two or more years of dedicated CVOR experience.
- Experience with open-heart procedures.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular implants, grafts, and advanced surgical technologies.
