Travel Respiratory Therapist - NICU - $3,154 per week

About the role

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. This is a 26‑week travel assignment starting November 9, 2026, with one opening available.

Schedule

• Day shift, 4×12‑hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• 48 hours per week
• Self‑scheduling model (specific shift preferences not guaranteed)
• Every other weekend required, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Travelers must float within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience
• Level IV NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS certification preferred
• VA state license required; pending VA license accepted if candidate holds another active state license and can obtain a temporary license before start
• Two professional references required
• Epic EMR experience required
• First‑time travelers are not considered for this position

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in the NICU and pediatric critical care settings
• Airway management, ventilator management, medication delivery systems, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with high‑frequency jet ventilators and oscillating ventilators
• Assist with high‑risk deliveries and neonatal transports

Additional information

• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1‑year separation plus leadership approval to return as a traveler
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days with the facility
• Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13‑week contract; must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any planned vacation time between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 48.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined. Job ID: P‑753192.
