Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job

Key Highlights

Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I and Phase II PACU care for post-anesthesia patients, including airway management, ETCO2 monitoring, and post-op vital sign assessment.
• Manage pain control strategies (PCA/epidural) and monitor for post-anesthesia complications; respond to deterioration and escalate to anesthesia as needed.
• Perform postoperative assessments, maintain accurate documentation in Epic, and communicate updates to the surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, start IVs, and assist with basic central line/PICC-related tasks; assist with blood product administration per orders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (IV teams, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Services, RRT, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary) to support smooth patient flow and discharge planning.

Requirements

• NY RN license in hand to submit
• Minimum 1 year RN experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Epic charting experience required (hard requirement)
• PACU Phase I & II experience; pediatric PACU experience is helpful
• Ability to float to related unit areas as needed
• Candidates located within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible; first-time travelers accepted
